Story of Link : The Illegible scroll of Destiny

~ Scroll III ~

I remember only few things after my offense was discovered, or rather I did not want to remember anymore . From my parents, feelings went from surprise to anger, blows and painful scars marked my body, then I got jailed during days. hunger, thirst, then a feeling of incomprehension and injustice against the violence which was unleashed on me only because of reading a forbidden book.

Once my punishment ended, I didn't know how much days or years I was imprisoned, I noticed that everything around me had changed. The entire village was now looking me with a evil eye since I have brought shame, avoided me, and many rumors were surrounding me. I had become a pariah.

I learned only many time later the reason from this hatred. This book seemed to have lost of its magic, because it has been opened at the wrong time. The legend said that the hero would come to take possession of this object when a danger would threaten our world. What would it occur if somebody opened it before him? The village thought that this action would bring misfortune.

As I couldn't stand this anymore, I decided to leave. Again I "borrowed" the book which, in spite of the fact of having lost its “virtues”, seemed even more to be protected, and I fled of my village by a soft night of summer, contrasting with the torments which haunted me.

In fact, this book didn't seem to have lost its properties, but those would appear only to its first owner. Why me, and why now? Maybe it was due to all these years spent in hibernation, but it was not my main concern. The images which I could see in there showed now some of the episodes of my life, from my childhood to the adulthood, while passing through this sad episode of my adolescence. I was frightened by this destiny which was spread out in front of me, without concession, brutal and relentless, which explains maybe my current reluctence of not reading more than four pages ahead in time. Moreover, I did not want to read it anymore . All in there was true, whatever I could do, it was happening as expected. I did not want that she dies. I wanted so much to find and meet her, but that would seal definitively her destiny.

Then I wandered all around the world, using my little advantage to carry out an easy and disillusioned life. Hope was so obsolete with the Black book of the Destiny.

One day, sitting on the edge of a fountain, as I was vaguely looking at people living their monotonous and everyday's life, a boy with the red hair approached me. With a overflowing smile of innocence he spoke to me about the recruitment of the Runic Knight and asked me to take part in a trainee trial. Of course, I knew right now that I would take part in it, but that I would refuse to join them, as usual thanks to the book. Anyway, the idea to join an order did not interest me.

“If you insist, I answered him, but dont be disappointed by the a result then.”

“Don't worry, he said happlily. You seemed bored. Also it is not the result which counts, it is what you felt and the memories you had during that time that are more important!” he exclaimed by pointing finger tto he castle where the trial would proceed. “Hehe, isnt it class? It is what my adoptive father always says to me. He train the Runiques Knights here.”

These last sentences were a revelation for me.
Yes, whatever the way you choose, the final destination will be always the same one. Yes, destiny can't be escaped. But the best memories that I could tell to those who wait for me at the end of the road would be those that happened during this travel. Thank you , Adorya, I am in your debt because of this, and that is why we spent memorables moments together.

Despite everything, I will find a way to make the Book lie. I will not hesitate when I will find it, even if it must cost my life…
